How do you think your country ranks in terms of food security? And we don't just mean the quantity, as this video will teach you.

We hit the street to present people from around the world with their country’s ranking on the Global Food Security Index and dove into the meaning of these rankings with expert insight from Professor Andy Nelson.

In this video, Andy shows us how the index can be used as a starting point for in-depth conversations about our food systems and what we can do to help inform policies and solutions for the future.

Indonesia’s ranking in food availability has us thinking about the critical role of trade in achieving greater food security, and results in a deep dive into the topic of the movement of food: What’s the impact of shocks like COVID-19 on global food systems? And why does urbanization enhance the need for spatial data on how food moves around?

If you hear the shocking answer to how much of our global usable land is occupied by the cities that over 50% of our world’s population lives in, we guarantee that you will see the urgency of these spatial models.

If you care about the world being able to feed its people, then this video is a must-watch. Join Andy Nelson in his ambition to change the curve of declining food security by just starting a conversation.
